10-4-24 THOUGHTS
Our reading this morning is not one of great encouragement. It describes our times all too well in my mind. Jesus in John 8:44 "You are of [your] father the devil, and continually want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own [nature,] for he is a liar and the father of lies.” The basic tool of Satan is THE LIE! It is deception and not truth that pervades this season of our lives. Men and women lie to gain power! Isa 5:20 “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” Verse 7... “O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people forever.” This is TRUTH!
Ps 12:1-8 Help, LORD, for the godly are no more; the faithful have vanished from among men. 2 Everyone lies to his neighbour; their flattering lips speak with deception. 3 May the LORD cut off all flattering lips and every boastful tongue 4 that says, "We will triumph with our tongues; we own our lips— who is our master?" 5 "Because of the oppression of the weak and the groaning of the needy, I will now arise," says the LORD. "I will protect them from those who malign them." 6 And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver refined in a furnace of clay, purified seven times. 7 O LORD, you will keep us safe and protect us from such people for ever. 8 The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honoured among men.
My Prayer:
Help O Lord, for we live in an unattractive world. Men have grossly forsaken your ways. We are like “filthy rags”, all of us. Thank You for truth and light in Christ Jesus. Help us to see The Light in the midst of frustrating times. May we live spiritual lives, overcoming the flesh. Help us to see You, O God, and abide in You continually. Nothing else makes sense. May we rest in hope. We need You every hour, our God! In the name of the one who saves us, Amen.
